Kenny Stahl, flute and bass flute; Bob Basa, guitar

On his latest release, Scentuality, flutist Kenny Stahl continues to expand upon the harmonic pathways he paved in his 1996 recording, Kennys from Heaven. This time around, Stahl matches wits with guitarist Bob Basa for a lyrical collection of eleven intimate duets.

The diverse program ranges from Jazz standards like Monk's "In Walked Bud," to a passionate rendition of Gabriel Fauré's "Pavane." Other highlights include a beautifully crafted version of Astor Piazzolla's "Adios Nonino" as well as a very appealing "Gymnopedie," the Eric Satie composition that Bill Evans was known to treasure.

All of the eclectic material on Scentuality is quite accessible, and at times, the flutist is reminiscent of Jean-Pierre Rampal.
